Hello Konocti Families,
We have continued to monitor air quality throughout the day, Given our current conditions and predictions for tomorrow, Konocti Schools will be open for Distance Learning tomorrow. If conditions change drastically overnight and we return to a dangerous air quality level in the morning, we will close, and notify you by 7:00am. We continue to prioritize safety while also doing the best we can to begin to re-engage students in learning. Thank you for your support as we continue to work together during these challenging times.
Meal pick-up will take place at Pomo, Burns Valley, and East Lake Schools from 7:30 to 8:30.
Hello Konocti Families,
We have remained in close contact throughout the day with Fire Chief Sapeta ; Fire Chief Ciancio , as well as Public Health and The LC Air Quality Management District. We have received information that current weather patterns are expected to remain in place overnight which will most likely create similar air quality rates in the dangerous level that we experienced this morning. We have approximately 70 staff members that have been evacuated from their homes and are doing their best to support our students, in addition we have many parents and students that must leave their homes and go to parking lots/ public locations to access Wifi. Based on this information and our priority of the safety of students, staff and community Konocti Schools will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday August 25th. On behalf of our School Board, Management team, all of our teachers and support staff, please know these decisions are very difficult for us. We all miss our students, and we are deeply concerned for their loss of learning during these challenges. We are committed to reopening as quickly as we can assure it is safe, and we are more dedicated than ever to connect with all of our students and provide them a high quality learning opportunity.
Hello Konocti Families,
This is Becky Salato, Konocti Superintendent. During these challenging times, we hope you are staying safe and strong. We have been in close contact throughout the weekend with Cal Fire, and the Lake County Emergency Operations Services as we continue to monitor the fire and weather conditions. The safety of our students, staff, and community is always our priority. At this point in time we can safely open Konocti schools to return to distance learning Monday. Student meals will be available at Burns Valley, Pomo, East Lake and Lower Lake Elementary Schools on Monday from 7:30am to 8:30 am. We will continue to monitor conditions, and update you with any new information, please continue to check our district and school site social media for updates. Contact your school site if you need any support for your students as they reconnect to their virtual classrooms. Please stay safe and stay strong.
Good evening Konocti,
This is Becky Salato, Konocti Superintendent. The safety and well being of our students, staff, and community is always our priority. We have been closely monitoring the fire conditions throughout our Community. Due to evacuations still in effect, no containment, and other uncertainties, all Konocti schools will remain closed tomorrow, Friday August 21st. This means there will be no Distance Learning classes. We will continue to update you over the weekend and are hopeful with better conditions throughout the weekend, we will be able to reopen on Monday. Please stay safe.
